Stop the clock it’s national simultaneous storytime
“Before the clock strikes one, a mother mouse must search the house for her two missing sons. But she’d better watch out for the cat!”
Today, Wednesday 23 May 2018 at 11am, Trinity Junior School students joined together with thousands of other children around Australia and simultaneously read Hickory Dickory Dash.
National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is an annual campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, preschools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. For a number of years, Trinity has participated in this national event.
For NSS2018, our students from Preschool to Year 2 met in the school library and were read to by guest booklover – Deputy Principal Mr Jason Ward. The remainder of the Junior School had the opportunity to view a video reading of the story by the KidsMatter Action Team (KAT).
The lively tale, delighted our young learners as they once again recognised the value of animated storytelling, engaging narrative and fun characters.
NSS2018's book Hickory Dickory Dash is written by Tony Wilson, illustrated by Laura Wood and published by Scholastic. NSS is now in its 18th year.
