Silence is deadly!!

On Friday, 6 September, our Senior School young men had the privilege of listening to a speaker from Menslink on the topic of ‘Silence is Deadly’.

The issue at the heart of the presentation was that too many young men suffer anxiety, bullying, depression and other associated mental health problems in silence, and that if we are suffering, we need to tell someone about it. Our young men in the audience were captivated by the speaker and had dozens of questions to ask during the question and answer time at the end of the presentation.

In addition, there were a number of up and coming sports stars from the U/20 Raiders present during the morning, who spoke of their experiences with dealing with such issues, and repeated the message of the importance of letting someone know, as well as being on the lookout for our friends and family members in case they are hurting and not saying anything.

This time of personal development was incredibly important for our young men. It was a message of hope that was important for all to hear.

ABC Radio was present and interviewed our male Year 11 and 12 Mental Health Ambassadors, Zak and Rob. This interview was aired on the ABC on Monday September 9.

See the Menslink webpage for more information.
